Meet Omar Ahmed: Our February 2024 Winner
Omar's Story
Omar is our February 2024 Built With Science transformation winner, and we're thrilled to have had the chance to talk to him about his journey.
Here are the key snippets from our interview (note: lightly edited for length and clarity).
Omar, what inspired you to start your fitness journey? Tell us the backstory.
Yeah. So, I was very overweight and could barely move. I was sitting back at home, eating a whole lot of steaks. A whole lot of fries with a whole lot of sausage. And, to be honest, even though my physical health was terrible, my mental health was way worse.
Because I felt like I couldn’t change anything. I was stuck in a box. Whenever I tried to go work out, I’d get these bad migraines. So I’d give up. I hated life.
But, you know, I watched a lot of anime. I looked at those fictional characters and how they do all this cool stuff, the back flipping and all, and I just always wished I could do that.
So, I started fasting during Ramadan. I wasn’t really exercising. I just wanted to start with the diet first. And I remember being on YouTube, and Jeremy’s video popped up.
I watched it, and I was immediately sold. Like, I bought the Built With Science course immediately. That was when I started doing the workouts. At the time, I couldn’t go to the gym because I didn’t really have money to pay for it.
So I just did home workouts with the dumbbells my brother had. And that’s how I got started.
What results have you seen from the Built With Science program?
To be very honest, I wasn’t tracking my physical changes. I wasn’t even looking in the mirror. I just wanted to keep being consistent, sticking to my diet and workout plan.
But one day, my brother saw me walking in with a tank top, and he said that I looked like a bodyguard. That was when I realized that I’ve actually come so far; I’ve lost the fat and built muscle.
So, yeah, I believe that was when I started to take pictures. And I started to notice that, oh, I’ve got a whole lot more muscle than I thought. Because of that, I felt more motivated to go to the gym and keep sticking to it.
The program hasn’t just changed me physically, either. My confidence is much better.
Like, much better. When I started going to the gym, I would always wear oversized tees. You know, since I was really big, I wanted to kind of hide that way. But now? I’m wearing more fitted clothing, clothes that fit me, or even show off my physique.
So I’m feeling way more confident and willing to go out and talk to more people. And I just feel very happy, because I did something in my life that benefited me. I worked hard and achieved something.
I’m also very appreciative that I was able to inspire my family, too. Like, my brother has been meal prepping as well — which makes me very happy to see.
What do you love most about the BWS program?
It literally tells you exactly what to do, dude. Like, step-by-step. It even shows you the common mistakes to avoid. And it helps you perfect your exercise form.
The program also helped me gain a deeper understanding of the quote, “Success doesn’t happen overnight.” At the time, I thought the quote was stupid. Like, of course, you’re not going to get the six-pack or a million dollars overnight. But I didn’t truly understand it.
I thought that it would take days or weeks to get results, but I had to understand that it’s not gonna take just weeks or months. But years. So when I started taking that approach, that’s when my mind opened up.
Instead of getting mad at the results I have right now, I started to appreciate the work that I was putting in. Going to the gym, even when I didn’t feel like it.

Other Highlights From The Interview
What would you say to someone on the fence about starting the Built With Science program?
I would say that, what else is there better to do?
You can sit back, you know, go on social media, consume content, and, you know, play video games and stuff like that. But you’ve already been doing it, so why not try something else?
Why not do some hard work? Why not go the gym, sacrifice that time that you’re scrolling on TikTok, that you’re going to watch movies, and put that time into the gym so you can experience something even better?
Cause, you know, going to the movie that’s only going to last, what, an hour, or 2 hours, compared to when you look at yourself in the mirror; that’s going to last a lifetime because you just achieved something that not a lot of people have achieved.
And your hard work is showing. So you’re going to feel way better. Much more confident.
