HOW TO SUBMIT

 

Step 1: Take your before photos and videos today.

Before you do anything else, take your before photos and video today. This is the most important step on this entire list.

Photos and videos become incredibly useful when you are working towards a transformation. When you can actually see how your body is changing week to week and month to month, it provides a level of motivation that the scale simply cannot. The scale might not move the way you expect, but your photos and videos will show you what is actually happening to your body.

I know how uncomfortable this may feel, especially at the beginning of your journey. But trust me, after you see your body changing throughout the weeks and months, you will be so thankful that you have this footage to look back on. Members who skip this step almost always wish they hadn't.

Photos

Take a front, side, and back photo in front of a plain wall, in good lighting, showing as much as you are comfortable with. Flexed or unflexed is fine. Have someone take them for you if you can, or prop your phone up and use a timer. Try to find a spot where the lighting is consistent so your comparisons are accurate over time.

Here is a good example of this:

 

Video

Record a short front, side, and back walkthrough video in the same spot.

Face the camera, slowly rotate to your side, then turn to your back so all three angles are captured. Feel free to add any flexing shots at the end, whatever you want to be able to compare down the road.

You can do this in one continuous clip or as three separate short clips, whatever is easier for you. If you have a tripod, that works great for this. If not, simply recording yourself in the mirror with your phone camera works perfectly fine.

Save everything to your phone for now. You do not need to submit anything yet.

 

Step 2: Keep taking photos and videos every week

Once you have your before, make it a habit to take the same front, side, and back photos and video every single week. Same spot, same lighting, same format. The more consistent you are, the more powerful your transformation will look when you are ready to submit.

 

Two Important Notes

  1. If you miss a week or so, don’t sweat it. We’re not looking for perfection here. Take as many photos throughout your journey as you are able to in order to at least establish a timeline, and you’ll be all set.
  2. If you can’t see the changes right away, don’t worry about it - this is normal. Visual changes are more gradual that you simply cannot see day to day - but the more photos you take over a period of time, the more you’ll be able to look back and clearly see those changes from when you started.

 

Step 3: Submit when you are ready

Whenever you feel you have made real progress, whether that took 30 days or a full year, head to builtwithscience.com/aftersubmissions to submit your transformation. You will upload your before and after photos and videos and answer 4 short questions:

  1. How long have you been using BWS+ and what features do you use most?
  2. What are 3 things you are most proud of accomplishing since starting?
  3. How did you feel before starting and how do you feel now?
  4. What would you tell someone who is thinking about starting BWS+ but is not sure yet?

You are limited to one submission per month, but you are always eligible. Every month is a fresh draw.

 

Step 4: Wait to hear from us

Our team reviews every submission and will reach out directly if you are selected as a finalist. And remember, we are not judging on visuals alone, so even if you feel like your transformation is not dramatic enough, submit anyway. You might be surprised.

We will never share your photos or videos anywhere without your explicit permission first. Everything you submit is reviewed privately by our team only.

Even if you never plan on submitting, take the photos and videos anyway. They are an essential part of the process and will show you the visual progress that your weight scale or other measurements might not catch.

 

Months from now you are going to look back at this moment and be so glad you started.

What do I need to do in order to be eligible for a submission?

To be eligible to win the monthly prize, you must 1.) Be a BWS program member and 2.) Send your photo submissions.

How should I take my progress photos?

At a bare minimum, take at least 1 front-facing photo of yourself in front of a plain wall with as much skin as you feel comfortable showing. We’d highly suggest taking a side and back angle as well so that you can compare all angles of your body.Try to find an area where the lighting is usually consistent. You can take them flexed or unflexed.

Although Built With Science isn't obligated to publish any photos or other materials submitted as part of a contest entry, by participating or submitting an entry in the contest, you are giving Built With Science permission to publish, reproduce, distribute, and/or otherwise use the content of your entry in any manner without compensation or consideration to you, and without further authorization by you.
